Re: Import GEDCOM from GENE from Mac 9.5.5?

Hi There should not be a problem with importing a .ged file into iFamily. I’m not familiar with the GENE program but I would expect it can export a gedcom file to the 5.5 standard. Copy this file onto your new Mac (using a flash drive, CD or other means) and the use the File menu option to import a ...

Re: Filtered People Report

Hi Neville There are a few that aren’t working (people... Notes for example) but I thought the Filtered people one worked with no parameters. Can you provide a few more details on what you were doing when it failed and how did it fail? (Crash, no output etc) This will help Warwick chase the bug hunt...

Re: Personal Notes

Hi Matthew, I have just been trying the People.. Notes... form and entering text in the family name search box. It works OK if there are two databases open but crashes the app if only one is open. I'm sure it is all linked to the GUI changes for 64 bit working and will be fixed RSN (well next year a...

Re: Personal Notes

Hi Matthew, I believe the problem Phil noticed relates to the GUI changes in the latest build and I am sure Warwick will fix it as soon as he can in the next release. I haven’t seen the problem you mention in that section of the app but it does happen when in full screen mode in the main search box ...

Re: Unscheduled Website downtime

Hi Phil, Do you mean you can access the Forum from iFamilyforMac under macOS High Sierra but not directly? I can only suggest that the URL you are using is incorrect as iFamily uses Safari with the following link: http://www.ifamilyformac.com/forums/ Cannot think of any reason for the site not to be...

Hi Again, I have just tried the People ... Only trouble is I cannot get it to generate any content other than the titles. As I said earlier, i...

Hi Phil, The only one I can see at the moment is the People ... I'm wondering if the 'repo...

Hi Phil,

Not sure how you did it either.

I cannot find a way to output the notes - The People... Notes... menu option seems to be broken or I'm not using it correctly.

What information is in your .csv file?

Re: How do I upgrade to the latest release?

Hi Robert To update your copy of iFamily just follow the link in the post before yours and install the latest version. This one works with macOS High Sierra and Sierra I am guessing that you have updated your OS since you last used iFamily and the version you are trying to run is not compatible. Don...

Hi

Just go to the members only forum section and use the link to version 2.9.4 which is fine as long as you are not on macOS High Sierra beta.

Run as normal and complete the registration email.

Re: 64 bit compatibility

Hi

I have just installed the first public beta of High Sierrra and the bad news is that iFamilyForMac does not launch.

The good news is that Warwick will have it fixed before the public release.

So don't install the public beta on your main or only machine.

Re: 64 bit compatibility

Don't panic!

You are mistaken as High Sierra is stated as being the last version to support 32 bit apps.

So there is still time for an update or two before the release of the 64 bit only macOS :D

Re: Crash course on sources (please)

Hi, My way to do this would be to set up a Source for each Newspaper (e.g. New York Times, The Herald, Le Monde etc). The Source citation would then be the particular issue information for that paper - Date, Page line etc Gedcom does define a Source Type of Newspaper so that would be the group under...

Re: macOS Sierra 10.12 - incompatible with iFamily!

Hi,

Version 2.9.4 is still the latest version and works reasonably with macOS Sierra.

Not perfect but it runs and is pretty useable.

The Members forum has a thread on that version and details some of the issue.

Warwick is working on a release but it is taking a while.

Hi Phil, Sorry not to reply sooner but I hoped someone with direct experience of this would chip in. In my view of genealogy you should use your birth name linked to your birth mother (and father if possible) as that is your line of descent. You can then enter your adopted parents with the appropria...

Hi Chandra, Have you entered the date of birth for the children? This is the only way I know to list them in the correct order. I believe it is alphabetical if no dates provided. If you are not too sure of the birthdays you can enter 'abt 1980' for example to get the right sorting. I would advise ag...

Hi,

If you mean for generating a report then you can select the app to open the report in via the 'Open report in:' drop down menu.

I believe this requires that you have the app installed
