This problem appears to be confined to leslies Mac and I have been working through some options with her. No other reports of this error have been received.

Many Thanks Warwick for your patience

Definite only my iMac with this problem as I installed on hubby's laptop to see what would happen and no problems with iFamily there and he is also running Lion
I reckon somewhere I got something corrupted hence the weird stuff I experienced ...I have done a total reinstall of my system and all is good
I normally do backup prior and also normally wait and see with new systems
so it serves me right for being so stupid
once again many thanks as no way did I want to leave iFamily its the best family tree program out there
best regards lesley
