Re: iFamily for Mac V2.12.0 - 23 Nov 2020
Thanks Warwick For the last few years when I open iFamily I get the following error message: The File NEAL.FtkSql couldn't be opened because it isn't in the correct format. The file might be corrupted, truncated, or in an unexpected format." However, when I click on the "OK" button on the error mess...

Re: iFamily for Mac V2.12.0 - 23 Nov 2020
Hi Warwick
I'm currently running v 2.9.8 on a Mac running High Sierra (10.13.6).
Will everything work if I just download the update. Thought I'd ask as I wouldn't like to see many years of work disappear!

Re: NotesAdvice Error
I have to say it's not just a matter of fixing the wording that comes up for the pop-up message. The current problem means I can't edit for eg the Death Notes field at all, even when opening the whole Death Notes box.
I'm running 0SX 10.11.6 El Capitan on an early 2015 Macbook Air.

Re: NotesAdvice Error
Thanks Warwick. When is the next release due, and will it allow data to be input into the boxes?

NotesAdvice Error
Hi
Just recently when I try and add data to the Birth or Death notes boxes I get a pop-up message which just says "NotesAdvice". It prevents any data being put in those boxes. Can someone tell me how to get around this?

Re: Update for El Capitan
I'm having the same problem. Can't see or open my family tree file since I've upgraded to El Capitan, even though I have the latest release of iFamily. Many years work at stake here, getting in a bit of a panic too!

Re: How do I upgrade to the latest release?
I've just had to get a new Macbook Air running El Capitan, and now iFamily is not loading the data that I had on iFamily for Leopard on the old machine, even after updating to the latest version. I do however have two Royal family trees, but not 10 years of my own work.

Re: File is Missing!
OK, crisis averted. It looks like the files are still there, but have to be accessed first through Finder. After that, they appear automatically when you open iFamily app. Whew!

File is Missing!
I just cleared the Safari cache to try and get rid of some freezing problems I was having, and now my family tree has disappeared! Given it represents about 10 years work, I'd like to get it back. The only file that is available is the "Royal" tree. I did do a backup a few months ago but I'd like to...

Re: Can't connect existing people-Recursion Error
The current relationship is Mr X is Mr Y's wife's son. WHich is true, but I wasn't sure if Mr Y was his father, but now I am, but I can't get them to connect. How would you delete that relationship?

Re: Different colour font?
Thanks Nigel, I'll probably go with that too. iFamily does tend to like things definitive (no question marks allowed, or approximate dates allowed!)

Different colour font?
Hi
Is it possible to have a different coloured font for people who MAY be part of your family tree but whose bona fides need more careful examination?

Hi Warwick
Just wondered if you had any thoughts about this problem, which still persists after many OSX upgrades, new laptops and the passing of over two years!

Problem opening iFamily Database
In the last couple of days I have started to get the following error message when opening iFamily: "The File "NEAL.FtkSql" couldn't be opened because it isn't in the correct format" iFamily then goes on to open as normal, but I'm worried that something might be seriously amiss. It has only seemed to...
