for some reason, if I enter a person's name, in regular type, close that person and return, the last name has been changed to all caps inside the name detail box and shows this way on the family tree. Changing surname to reflect adoption

What is the best way to record a person's name who was born to one surname, her mother divorced, remarried and the new husband adopted the this person under his surname? Does it make sense to simply record the child's last name as the adopted name and make a note about the event?
