Hi Fangio
You may well have got the solution by now. But if not:
Click on a person then go to their Family screen. There is a tick box on the bottom of the screen named
"Auto append family name"

Automatic Wife Creation? Sounds like a tabloid Newspaper....
Well, judging by the lack of response, it seems that I am the only person that has experienced this "Wife Creation". I want to try and find out at what point these wives were created and by what program if it is not iFamily. I started using iFamily at the end of last year when I finally broke away f...

Alive Dead People
Thanks nfcarrier I'm slowly going down the Index list (I've searched for the given name "Wife of" and got 162 - all generated by the programme, it seems) and entering a Y but there is a lot of clicking needed. Default settings for average life span
I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before but is there a setting, as I cannot find one, to set a default life span at say 115 years? It really becomes a problem when exporting a GEDCOM to a website and you find your 15th, 16th 17th Century ancestors as still "Living". I think it has something to d...

Titles and ranks
I had been using Legacy for the last decade or so before I finally saw the Mac light. I'm very impressed with iFamily. I've searched through the Forums to try and find the best way forward for ranks and titles. I've imported a GEDCOM from Legacy with about 3000 people in it. In Legacy, I used the Pr...
