Source for Notes

I think I will put the text of the article in the Notes section for each person. The existing events are already sourced to vital records, but I will also refer them to the newspaper article which ties them all together.
Thanks for your ideas.

Sources for Notes

The newspaper article in question relates to a number of events about the whole family so no one event would cover it.
So I will just include the source information in the text of the article.

Sources for Notes

I have entered some information (extract from a newspaper) in the Notes field for a person. I cannot see how to attribute the source of this information, other than including it in the notes. Or are Notes non-attributable?

Using iFamily in Dropbox

Tom, Thanks for persevering with your queries. I now understand what you are saying. I assumed, from some dodgy reasoning, that each computer's iFamily application had to have its own iFamilyData folder. That's why I put each of them in Dropbox, but only used one FtkSql file in a separate folder in ...

Using iFamily in Dropbox

I use Time Machine to back up to an external disc, and a weekly SuperDuper clone back up to a disc stored off site. This routine has saved my bacon a few times. The success of Dropbox setup is make sure only one computer accesses the common data file at a time, and to make sure all uploads are compl...

Using iFamily in Dropbox

I have only one FtkSql file per family tree in Dropbox. Each computer can access the same file OK. I have put each computer's iFamilyData folder in Dropbox to make it easy to copy each picture file from one iFamily>Pictures folder to the other. They could easily still reside in their respective comp...

Using iFamily in Dropbox

Thanks for your reply Tom. It seemed to me that the iFamily application in each computer required its own iFamilyData file. I tried to put them both in the one Dropbox folder but the transfer was not allowed. I did not try again for fear of causing problems. I have only just got this process going s...

Using iFamily in Dropbox

I have successfully arranged iFamily to work using Dropbox as a common file location. I wanted to be able to work on my data files on either of my two networked computers. Firstly I transferred each computer's iFamilyData files into separate folders in Dropbox using File>Move Data Directory. I then ...

Unmarried Partner

I have found the answer by trawling back through previous posts. In case others are interested I have pasted the answer below. It was just what I was looking for. Robin. If you click on the space above the person name - immediately below the context diagram (just to the left of where the ID is shown...

Unmarried Partner

I have imported a Gedcom file from Reunion into iFamily and have found that the unmarried partner of a person is shown as a married/husband in iFamily. I can't find a way to revert the married status to unmarried. I tried creating a similar family in a test file and find that iFamily treats this kin...
