When I first decided to look deeper into my own family tree, I realised how little I knew of my grandparents life and how they lived in their early days. This prompted this old man to give some knowledge to my own grand and great grandchildren by writing - and publishing - a book of my life story sh...

Glad you got it all sorted.

Have you tried using the original Installation disk on the broken mac?
You may be able to open the 'Utilities' folder from that disk and then try to 'Verify' and 'Repair Disk'
Try it at least 3 times.

That's the way I understand it! Ensure that the yellow icon as an external really has everything in it by clicking on it twice before you transfer the contents over as you may have damaged it. As a btw: There is an application called Superduper (www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/) that is a very usefu...

Not really sure what you mean by 'Hard Drive Device', but when the two computers are connected by a firewire cable, the hard disk on the broken computer should appear on the new machines desktop. You could then use 'Migration Assistant' on the new machine to transfer everything across - (if the HD i...

Hi Annie, Welcome to the site. The Royal Family history albeit most interesting and informative, is to give you an idea how things are laid out, but being a new Mac user it can be sometimes difficult. To start your own tree you will need to open iFamily and go to New under File and go on from there....

Wouldn't SuperDuper copy from one machine to another if they were networked?

Might be worth having a look at http://shirtpocket.com/

iFamily is one of the most stable pieces of like software I have encountered, so it appears as if something in your system is causing it to crash. It's assumed that you have done the normal things like repairing Permissions from your original system disks (ie: Starting your machine from them by h...

Yeah! Reports do seem to add up.

I just go to Users/Name/iFamilyData/Reports and just drag them to the trash.

If you are on Snow Leopard and have the folder below called &#39iFamily for Tiger&#39 - leave it alone.

Welcome to the Forum BTW

Is anybody managing this software now? I haven't seen any announcements or updates since Keith passed away. I worry that Apple will eventually give us an OS that won't run iFamily. That would be a shame. I agree, it would be nice to have an update of iFamily, but I don't think it would be ...

Thanks Warwick

I had only just noticed the yellow flag problem, but I thought I would make it public if only to save others from sending you e-mails

Logging In and Flags

Has anyone else having to log in twice before it really shows as being 'Logged In" at the top of the page? When finally the Forum does show it correctly, the yellow flags are not visible in colour for New Posts. I know that Warwick is aware of the logging in twice process, but may not be aware of...

I think that what 4x4x4 is asking in his first post is: That it would be a good idea if the Focal Person could be dragged to the centre of the screen to allow a couple more generations to be in view. Whether this would be possible is a matter for the programmer and could be difficult 4x4x4 But as ye...

I don&#39t think you can, unless you could mess about with &#39Project Views&#39
I haven&#39t tried it, but it may be a possibility

Somebody else may have a more realistic answer. Sorry!

Re: Reports

Aaaagh! FROM the dark side :) I have recently come over to the Dark Side (Mac) Agree that it's the best programme around, but not sure what a 'Register' report is. Perhaps if you made your requirements a little clearer, it's possible that Warwick will come back to you fairly soon. Happy Christmas to...
