Web output customisation

I've been an iFamily user for ever; well since 2009. I've always really enjoyed using it, however the web output is too simple. I don't mind the actual content, however it's the lack of customisation of the overall page that is frustration. I want to incorporate the pages INTO my site, not have it A...

Ok, here's a quick fix for the embedded style element for the body...a little command to remove the element. Generatre your HTML as normal, but before uploading it to your site... Open the Terminal App (in your Utilites folder) on the Mac at the command line type (or copy and paste this)... find /us...

I realise this is a little late, but if you have not solved it....

Are you moving from the iMac to the MBPro, or wish to run on both?

I agree with the above. Although I'm not sure what you mean when talking about the list of initial letters. What's the issue there? What would be even better is if the HTML output could use a template file so users could then customise it. At the moment, I incorporate the HTML pages into my website ...

Crashes at launch

I've been away from my tree for a year or so but decided to get back on it. In the interim I have upgraded to a MacBook Air and today I re-downloaded iFamily (following the link from the email sent to me years ago when I bought iFamily). I seem to be running the latest version but as soon as I launc...

It certainly stands out!!!

Aesthetically, and in consideration of it&#39s surroundings and the Operating System as a whole, it does not fit.

It&#39s a difficult one, as everyone has their own idea of what works.

the new icon

I tried to run iFmaily after upgrading to Snow Leopard and it crashed. My heart sank. Then I checked the forum and there was an update, phew! Thanks I see the icon has changed....any chance of a transparent background rather than white. It really doesn't sit too well in the dock and stands out li...

If you have no idea when some died, but you know they are dead, you can put Y in the death date (for Yes) You can also doing the following in the date filed: c 1901 bef 1901 aft 1901 abt 1901 c = circu (around) bef = before aft = after abt = about You can also include more than the year, os the mont...

While I agree that the jpeg images are nicer looking than the html tables, if you switch to the latter approach you will be able to use a text editor to make the desired changes. This is true, and I could also take the engine out the car and push it to work! :D :D :D Fingers crossed we get a soluti...

thanks for the suggestion 'hib'. However there still lies the issue that the JPG files iFamily creates having the "..or recently deceased" text as part of the image. I now find myself doing more and more post-production work on the HTML before I publish it. I do not have a huge tree, but each ...

Change "Living or Recently Deceased" tag

Is there any way to change "Living or Recently Deceased" in the graphic of the HTML to say "Living". I am generating the HTML with the LorRD option so that I can still show the layout of the tree and still allow navigation, however it is amazing how many of my family have taken offence that they are...

Re: The "Name" field.

i was just wondering, is there any reason why the Name field couldn't be separated up into First and Last name? I guess you'd also have to have a field for middle name(s). I wondered this too when I first started using iFamily. Previously I was using another piece of software that did split t...

Thanks Warwick. Maybe the solution could be simply achieved if all HTML files names simply included the ID and not the persons name, even if not using the "Depersonalize" option. I can't think of a reason to have the persons name in the filename at all, but maybe there is one. Anyway, thanks for ...

Depersonalize the HTML has too much information

When generating HTML of the data to include on a web site, I have used the "Depersonalize Living and Recently Dead people". This option allows you to see the structure of the tree and the fact that the person married/had children, etc. Whereas "Exclude Living People" does not allow you to navigate f...

Thanks Warwick I think the big plus to having a native apps is the you do not need to rely on an internet connection to view your data. Of course, on the other hand most of the time your iphone does have a data singnal or access to public wireless so it's not a massive issue. More a nice to have ...

Using a "find and replace in files" from a text editor, you will be able to search for. Yes, but there lies my problem -- I can't source a find and replace tool which works on multiple files. I am all googled out! :? This becomes trickier if you want an different identifier in each file. No, it&...

adding code to each HTML page

Does anyone have an idea on how I can quickly add some HTML code to every page generated by iFamily? What about adding an Event? I add an event dated the date of their death, with an event type of "Description&#39. In this I note something like &#39Bachelor&#39 if he never married or &#39No children at death&#39.
