Re: Omit person from descendants diagram?

Hi

You can disconnect the person from the parent which will have the effect of hiding him/her.

Not sure if there is any other way.

Re: Reindexing a Family Tree

Hi Chris

I don’t believe it is possible to change the index numbers in iFamily.

This posting provides some more info on the numbering

Re: Different Data File location for each tree

Hi Randy, Just been looking at the path and it seems to point to the "user/Library/Mobile Documents" folder which is actually a link to the iFamilyData folder on the iCloud. My iFamily folder is exactly as standard plus all the databases, reports and Pictures that I have imported into the app. Readi...

Re: Different Data File location for each tree

Hi randy, Just looked at my laptop and got the following from the image requester part: "If the original picture file is NOT in a subdirectory of your Home Directory then iFamily will always copy it to the iFamilyData/Pictures directory. If the original picture file IS in a directory that is a subdi...

Re: Different Data File location for each tree

Hi Randy A quick reply to part of your questions. 1. My laptop and desktop machines have different names so no problem there. I have the iFamily data folder in a document folder with exactly the same structure as on your machine. As far as the off site issue is concerned, as long as the iCloud folde...

Re: Different Data File location for each tree

Hi If you have network connection for your different Macs then you could try what I do which is to use the iCloud as the location for my iFamily folder. The only issue I have found is to make sure you close the app on a Mac when you want to open it up on another machine. You can have a different dat...

Re: macOS Mojavi

Hi Michelle,

I haven't seen a problem with the Reports option being greyed out - it is all fine for me.

Only see grey menu options if there is no open database.

Can you put up some more info on the versions you are using?

Re: The Updates are not working

Hi

Go to the Members area of the Forum and you will find the link to version 2.9.7.

There are a few snags with it at the moment and Warwick is busy coding a revised version which should be available very soon.

Hi, See postings under the Members Forum about the Mojave version. Warwick is working on an update and had hoped to release it on the 2nd November which has now passed. No further info available as to a new release date but you are not alone in needing it. It is likely to be a paid update. Regards, ...

Hi

No problem with an upgrade to a later release of High Sierra if it is working at the moment.

I’m assuming you have the latest release of iFamily from the link in the members area.

Hi Rob, There is a field labelled "AKA" (or Also Known As) on the Person Page (the one with the persons name on it next to 'Family' This can be used to record alternatives such as 'Jack' when the persons name is 'John' and could be used to have alternative spellings. It could be used to record varia...

Re: Upgrade questions

Hi Kirsten

The latest build is 2.9.6 which works with High Sierra, Sierra and (I believe) El Capitan.

You do not need to go through each release. Just download 2.9.6 from the Members area of this forum and run the installer.

Any reason for not upgrading to High Sierra?

Re: "No consanguinity with....."

Hi, Not too sure of the reasons for your problems but the Consanguinity relates to the Project view person. This is set under the "A/PV" icon on the main frame bar at the top of the window (Next to the Focal Person box). You then set the person as the 'Current ACTIVE VIEW' and then you should see th...

Hi Sali, If you have hundreds of ‘Wife of’ then I would suggest that the .ged file would be easier to edit. Unless Warwick can offer a better option. As for the manual, there are many topics in the FAQ section of the forum as well as the Missing Manual one. Also, on the main iFamilyfomac site there ...

Re: "Wife of" addition ever solved?

Hi Sali, At the top right hand corner there is a search box for Names & Titles which may be able to find entries which contain "Wife of" Alternatively, you can go to Events menu and select "Event Names" - that might work although I believe the current release is broken in some of these searches. Re: "Wife of" addition ever solved?

Hi Sali, Carried out a search on my laptop rather than the phone and found a link to a thread on the "Wife of" topic. It seems from Warwick's comment and investigation that the problem arises from an import of a GEDCOM file that has a null entry for an individual listed as a spouse in the FAM/FAMS s...

Re: Import GEDCOM from GENE from Mac 9.5.5?

Hi There should not be a problem with importing a .ged file into iFamily. I’m not familiar with the GENE program but I would expect it can export a gedcom file to the 5.5 standard.
