Re: Pictures
Hi, Just tested removing picture with v2.13.1 and it worked OK However, when I tried to crop an image so that the full image was shown in the picture pane it crashed. Crash report sent to Warwick with details of what caused it so I hope a fix will be easy but it may not be until the next main releas...

Re: New Computer 12.3.1 NO iFamily?
Kathy, I'm sorry you are still having issues with iFamily & macOS Monterey. I am convinced something must have gone wrong with the transfer of data from your old machine to your new one when you initially set it up as I have had very few issues with Monterey or iFamily v 2.12.0 Did you ever locate t...

Support for new versions of GEDCOM
I have been looking at the GEDCOM export/import from iFamily and it used GEDCOM 5.5 standard which is quite old. The latest GEDCOM org spec is 5.5.5 though 5.5.1 is often used (Not sure of the changes). FamilySearch have issued GEDCOM 7.x which is not an update but a new standard - which is a bit co...

Re: New Computer 12.3.1 NO iFamily?
Hi, Minor correction to previous post. The iFamilyData folder is un the User area by default not the Documents folder - though it can be moved using the move option. I have mine in the iCloud area so that it can be shared between machines. Still need to locate that folder and find the contents as th...

Re: New Computer 12.3.1 NO iFamily?
Hi Strange that the finder search does not find any .ftksql files. Do you have an iFamilyData folder in “Documents”? Or any where on the computer? The Backup files are generated when you do a database merge (and possibly other times) as a way to protect your data. Bottom line for me is if there are ...

Re: Option to turn off spellcheck
Hi, It can be disabled in System Preferences as a system wide change. It is under Keyboard - Text Input You can search for Spell Check in System Preferences to find the right sub section if the above does not lead you to the right place in the version of macOS you are using. I don't think there is a...

Re: New Computer 12.3.1 NO iFamily?
Hi Kathy, I assume you mean you are on macOS 12.4 with iFamily for Mac v 2.12.0 I don't know why the application does not launch when you click on it - It usually bounces and puts up a Menu bar with the options to load a family tree if it hasn't found one - or a requester to check for any update. Wh...

Re: New Computer 12.3.1 NO iFamily?
Hi Kathy When you say you moved the .dmg file to Applications I’m hoping you mean you double clicked on the dog file in finder and then moved the iFamily program into the applications folder but from your description I guess you did move the iFamily_V2.12.0.dmg file to applications Find the dmg file...

Re: Ancestor & Descendant Reports Not Working
Hi, Tried Ancestor and Ancestor by Generation and they seem OK. Tried Descendant report again and managed to create a Single line repot of the same (wrong) format as you had. Then, it would not generate the multiline report again so I believe the options are not being correctly read. Also, the gener...

Re: Ancestor & Descendant Reports Not Working
Hi, Just tested on other report selections to try and get a single line report without Source, Comments or Notes but it just generated the same report as before. So, it seems not to respect the selected options - but yours defaulted to a different report set. Odd. I will try other things to see if t...

Re: New Computer 12.3.1 NO iFamily?
Hi Kathy The application you need to use is the v2.12.0 Leaf in the applications folder. It sounds to me as if that application runs but has not loaded your iFamily database file. As you have moved to a new computer it is possible that the database file is not in the correct location. Where is your ...

Hi
Yes I am using macOS Monterey 12.3.1 with the latest version of iFamily v2.12.0
Other than the issue with entering dates in September as covered elsewhere on the forum I don’t have any major problems.

I will recheck my Mac Pro and hope that Warwick is able to identify the problem.

Hi, I have iFamily (v2.12.0) running fine on my M1 machines (other than some bugs reported elsewhere) and no issues with Monterey (12.3.1). Hi
I get a similar issue on an Apple Silicon MacBook Pro with Monterey 12.3 and iFamily 12.2 0 but get a requester listing the accepted formats.
It also failed on the 9 Sep 1880 so I didn’t check out the limits of the bug.

Re: When Adding a New Source iFamily freezes!
Hi Bee, I have just tested adding a Source on my Apple Silicon Monterey 12.1 MacBook Pro without any crash. I wonder if something has gone wrong with your database. Try creating a new database file with a few random people with dates of birth etc and then try to add a source or two. If it works OK t...

Re: iFamily for Mac V2.12.0 - 23 Nov 2020
Hi, Just tested the GEDCOM import from MacFamilyTree (into which I had imported an iFamilt GEDCOM export) and it worked but had some unrecognised Type data. These did not fail the import but may alter some of the relationships. However, the Ancestor and descendants charts functioned OK. iFamily gene...

Re: iFamily for Mac V2.12.0 - 23 Nov 2020
Hi I haven’t tested the GED import recently but will try later. I don’t know which version of the Gedcom standard that Fanily Tree Maker uses so there might be an issue there. If you can find the Royal92 database (I don’t think it is in the current download) and see if that works for the charts. If ...

Re: Web Page Generation Changed?
Hi Rob, I believe that the Web pages are generated as relatives of the Focal Person. I have just generated the webpages for my tree and it seems to include many people - cannot tell if anyone is missing but it is certainly not just a few. There are a number of Index pages in the Web_Pages folder. Re...

Re: Migration to Windows
Hi Andrew No experience with Windows based family tree apps but I’m sure a net search will offer some candidates. To transfer you need to export the whole database as a gedcom file along with the folder of pictures. iFamily will generate both at the same time in the iFamily data folder. You would th...

Re: Adding Music or Video files
Hi,
You are supposed to be able to add audio & video files in the Pictures pane by Copy & Paste or Drag/Drop but it does not seem to be working.
This is one for Warwick to resolve as it has probably become broken in some update or other.

Hi
The latest version is ok on El Capitan so I would download it from the members area (follow the link)
It should handle the database migration.
Let us know how you get on
