Re: New Computer 12.3.1 NO iFamily?
Hi Kathy The application you need to use is the v2.12.0 Leaf in the applications folder. It sounds to me as if that application runs but has not loaded your iFamily database file. As you have moved to a new computer it is possible that the database file is not in the correct location. Where is your ...

Hi Looks like we have to wait for the update as although the Sep date shows in the data entry box it doesn’t go into the database. I’d suggest that until the update is available dates in September should be put in as’ aft 31 Aug yyyy’ where yyyy is the year and the correct date entered in the notes ...

Hi
Yes I am using macOS Monterey 12.3.1 with the latest version of iFamily v2.12.0
Other than the issue with entering dates in September as covered elsewhere on the forum I don’t have any major problems.

Hi Enid
Thanks for the update. Seems to disprove the Apple Silicon theory.
I will recheck my Mac Pro and hope that Warwick is able to identify the problem.

Hi Enid,
Are you using an Apple Silicon (M1 etc) Mac or an Intel machine?
And which operating system - Monterey or earlier?
Thanks

Hi, I have iFamily (v2.12.0) running fine on my M1 machines (other than some bugs reported elsewhere) and no issues with Monterey (12.3.1). Updates are a way of life I'm afraid - mainly to fix bugs and vulnerabilities as well as adding the previously promised features. Where is your iFamily data fol...

Hi
I get a similar issue on an Apple Silicon MacBook Pro with Monterey 12.3 and iFamily 12.2 0 but get a requester listing the accepted formats.
It also failed on the 9 Sep 1880 so I didn’t check out the limits of the bug.

Re: When Adding a New Source iFamily freezes!
Hi Bee, I have just tested adding a Source on my Apple Silicon Monterey 12.1 MacBook Pro without any crash. I wonder if something has gone wrong with your database. Try creating a new database file with a few random people with dates of birth etc and then try to add a source or two. If it works OK t...

Re: iFamily for Mac V2.12.0 - 23 Nov 2020
Hi, Just tested the GEDCOM import from MacFamilyTree (into which I had imported an iFamilt GEDCOM export) and it worked but had some unrecognised Type data. These did not fail the import but may alter some of the relationships. However, the Ancestor and descendants charts functioned OK. iFamily gene...

Re: iFamily for Mac V2.12.0 - 23 Nov 2020
Hi I haven’t tested the GED import recently but will try later. I don’t know which version of the Gedcom standard that Fanily Tree Maker uses so there might be an issue there. If you can find the Royal92 database (I don’t think it is in the current download) and see if that works for the charts. If ...

Re: Web Page Generation Changed?
Hi Rob, I believe that the Web pages are generated as relatives of the Focal Person. I have just generated the webpages for my tree and it seems to include many people - cannot tell if anyone is missing but it is certainly not just a few. There are a number of Index pages in the Web_Pages folder. Re...

Re: Migration to Windows
Hi Andrew No experience with Windows based family tree apps but I’m sure a net search will offer some candidates. To transfer you need to export the whole database as a gedcom file along with the folder of pictures. iFamily will generate both at the same time in the iFamily data folder. You would th...

Re: Adding Music or Video files
Hi,
You are supposed to be able to add audio & video files in the Pictures pane by Copy & Paste or Drag/Drop but it does not seem to be working.
This is one for Warwick to resolve as it has probably become broken in some update or other.

Not with the current build. Warwick is working on a Big Sur update (he had the developer Mac Mini as I understand it) which will be released as soon as it is ready. I don’t know when that will be but I am hoping for soon. V2.9.9 briefly appeared in the Members area but that has gone again so the wai...

Hi
The latest version is ok on El Capitan so I would download it from the members area (follow the link)
It should handle the database migration.
Let us know how you get on

Hi The new versions are in the Members Forum area under the first post. The update was chargeable to help fund ongoing support. As you say “iFamily for Leopard” I’m guessing it has been a long time so your version of macOS may be too old for the latest version. I think there is information on the ma...

Hi
This problem was noticed a while ago but I’m not sure if Warwick has a fix yet.
Previous messages:

Force quit seems to get through the close problem without data loss (as far as I can tell) but clearly not ideal.
Cheers

Hi
Select the person you wish to 'Disconnect' (Leave the Parent as the Focal Person)
Right click on the Person to Disconnect and select 'Disconnect Person' from the drop down menu (third in the list).
Hope that helps,
Nigel

Do you mean that you are using the macOS screenshot function to do this or something within iFamily?
I only have access to my laptop which is running Catalina at the moment so I cannot check it out.

Hi Tony, The Ancestor & Descendent charts seem to print OK for me. At least up to the content of the print requester showing the names. Have you tried 'Save as PDF' option? I usually do this as it saves on paper and allows me to view and send to others. You can always print from Preview if it works ...
