Hi, Just looking in the preferences section and at the top of the panel there is an option to include the date of the last change for a record This then displays the last changed info for each record in the upper section diagram display. I don't know if that would help track down when changed wer...

Hi Al, Mmmm. In that case it would appear that iFamily is saving the file back after it is opened even if no changes are made - just read. I guess that that change could be a change in Focal person or even the person being viewed as all those items (and more, no doubt) are saved on exit so that you ...

Hi, A quick search of the postings found this link: http://www.ifamilyforleopard.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=128&highlight=merge+family+trees which might give a clue on merging gedcom files. I have not done this but it does seem to be possible though quite involved. If I see any other info I will pos...

Hi Cazzy, The main diagram above the info panel at the bottom of the screen is generated from the data in the database. It is a view of that information based on the selected Focal person and the settings you have chosen (e.g. number of generations). It is only when you create a report or diagram th...

Hi Cazzy, Not 100% sure what you are hoping to achieve in this scrolling. If you want to see the members of a single family line from the oldest ancestor then the Descendent diagram will show you all the members for as many generations as you set in the top part of the window of the report/diagram. ...

Hi Phil, Had a quick play and your proposed conversion to EVENT & TYPE works when GedITCom II adds the magic line 2 FORM LINEAGE_LINKED Without that it fails to import any people. Not sure why but haven't looked at the standard. The residence does appear in the list under both people as a special...

Hello again, I guess, looking at the earlier post, it is because it is under the Family group rather than the Individual that setting to an EVEN works though I am not too sure why. I will try the change in a test file later to see the impact as I would have thought it would still be hidden - I must ...

Hi Vikki, I haven't proved this completely but what I think is happening is this. When you save as PDF iFamilyforLeopard saves the family tree (Ancestors or Descendants) as a sheet big enough to take all the information at the standard font sizes defined. That is, if you printed it on that size s...

Hi, You can add the Scans as Pictures so that they are associated with each person but I do not know of a way to add them to an event or source. You could put the URL as part of the Source Citation and link it to the event (Birth death etc) but you really need the Page and volume details from the So...

There are two sets of Grandparents for each person and though the first cousins share one set they have a different set for the...

Hi Vernon, As far as I know there is no way to do what you are asking. As the number of generations displayed increases so there are more possible ancestors to be displayed in the same height of screen. Hence the blocks get smaller. If you hover the mouse pointer over the ancestor a pop up display w...

Hi peppermintp, The idea of this feature is to be able to mark up an area of the picture and associate a label with it. For example, if you have a group photo then you can draw a box around on of the heads (just click and drag on the picture), then add some text in the text window, highlight the tex...

Hi Phil, <helpful mode> I just tried using GEDitCOM II which is a powerful .ged file handler and, although it was just a test file with one family, I managed to convert the Family RESI event into Person Events using a CUT from the Family group and a couple of PASTES into each individual. Hi Phil, <soapbox mode> I understand about these types of events being Family ones as the family does live as a group for a time. However, IMHO, the family is about the relationship of the people to one another and nothing more. Even when the kids have grown up they are all part of the family but th...

Hi Phil, You can tell I haven't used Reunion much. Now found the Family events section and the RESI tag. It is the same problem, Version 5.5 of the GEDCOM specification does not define FAMily events of the type RESI so they are not imported into iFamily. Warwick could address this by working to t...

Back again. I have had a look at the GEDCOM 5.5 specification that iFamily is based on (v5.5.1 is a draft) and it says this about ADDR: ADDR {ADDRESS}: = The contemporary place, usually required for postal purposes, of an individual, a submitter of information, a repository, a business, a school, or...

Hi Phil, A bit of further testing after re-reading your note where you talk of a Family residence. By this I assume you used the Mailing Address feature in Reunion. Hi Phil, I carried out a quick test and had no problem transferring from Reunion to iFamily a file including RESI events. Hi nancy, I don't believe you are missing anything. There is no way to display the divorce details in the Ancestors or Descendants charts. Hi Jill, I do not believe there is a way to hide it completely. Hi Bill, Not used Export BDM to iCal either but that would put lots of entries into iCal which may not be what you wanted. You can use the People...
