Hi,
Which versions of macOS and iFamily are you using?
Latest version of iFamily works fine with High Sierra (and earlier).

Re: Spellings of surname
Hi Rob, There is a field labelled "AKA" (or Also Known As) on the Person Page (the one with the persons name on it next to 'Family' This can be used to record alternatives such as 'Jack' when the persons name is 'John' and could be used to have alternative spellings. It could be used to record varia...

Re: Upgrade questions
Hi Kirsten
The latest build is 2.9.6 which works with High Sierra, Sierra and (I believe) El Capitan.
You do not need to go through each release. Just download 2.9.6 from the Members area of this forum and run the installer.
Any reason for not upgrading to High Sierra?
Regards
Nigel

Re: macOS Mojave
Hi Warwick, At least it is running under Mojave. How does it look if you select the Classic set of colours rather than the default? My preference would be to have settings for both modes but if that is too complex to complete quickly I would rather have the other issues reworked as previously planne...

Re: "No consanguinity with....."
Hi, Not too sure of the reasons for your problems but the Consanguinity relates to the Project view person. This is set under the "A/PV" icon on the main frame bar at the top of the window (Next to the Focal Person box). You then set the person as the 'Current ACTIVE VIEW' and then you should see th...

Re: "Wife of" addition ever solved?
Hi Sali, If you have hundreds of ‘Wife of’ then I would suggest that the .ged file would be easier to edit. Unless Warwick can offer a better option. As for the manual, there are many topics in the FAQ section of the forum as well as the Missing Manual one. Also, on the main iFamilyfomac site there ...

Re: "Wife of" addition ever solved?
Hi Sali, At the top right hand corner there is a search box for Names & Titles which may be able to find entries which contain "Wife of" Alternatively, you can go to Events menu and select "Event Names" - that might work although I believe the current release is broken in some of these searches. Hop...

Re: "Wife of" addition ever solved?
Hi Sali, Carried out a search on my laptop rather than the phone and found a link to a thread on the "Wife of" topic. It seems from Warwick's comment and investigation that the problem arises from an import of a GEDCOM file that has a null entry for an individual listed as a spouse in the FAM/FAMS s...

Hi Sali,
Not sure I know of this issue - not been affected by it as far as I know.
Can you post a link to some of the old posts as I could not find one in my search?
Thanks
Nigel

Hi, Not too sure which Event list you generated but a useful one is: Using the menu item 'People ... Index..' and then select the Generate CSV option on the list that is generated. Re: Import GEDCOM from GENE from Mac 9.5.5?
Hi There should not be a problem with importing a .ged file into iFamily. I’m not familiar with the GENE program but I would expect it can export a gedcom file to the 5.5 standard. Copy this file onto your new Mac (using a flash drive, CD or other means) and the use the File menu option to import a ...

Hi Matthew, I have just been trying the People.. Notes... form and entering text in the family name search box. It works OK if there are two databases open but crashes the app if only one is open. Hi Phil,

I cannot find a way to output the notes - The People... Notes... menu option seems to be broken or I'm not using it correctly.
What information is in your .csv file?

Hi
I have just installed the first public beta of High Sierrra and the bad news is that iFamilyForMac does not launch.
The good news is that Warwick will have it fixed before the public release.
So don't install the public beta on your main or only machine.

Don't panic!
You are mistaken as High Sierra is stated as being the last version to support 32 bit apps.
So there is still time for an update or two before the release of the 64 bit only macOS

Re: Crash course on sources (please)
Hi, My way to do this would be to set up a Source for each Newspaper (e.g. New York Times, The Herald, Le Monde etc). Re: macOS Sierra 10.12 - incompatible with iFamily!
Hi,
Version 2.9.4 is still the latest version and works reasonably with macOS Sierra.
Not perfect but it runs and is pretty useable.
The Members forum has a thread on that version and details some of the issue.
Warwick is working on a release but it is taking a while.
