Hi Gerard, (1) If you choose Reports-> Filtered People.. from the iFamily Menus you are able to specify a Searchable Profession. Enter it in box next to the " Title/Occupation contains " label. If this is not an option you check to ensure that you are using Version 2.500 or later by looking in the b...

Hi Tony, If they are images or documents you should be able to "Drag and Drop" them from a Finder window. 1. In finder, locate the correct image and directory. 2. In iFamily, click on the person you want to add the census data to and select "Pictures" from the tab at the bottom of the iFamily window...

If you have a mighty mouse, using the scrollwheel over the focal person will switch between 12 options including consanguinuity, cause of death, or the last change date for that person in the databsae. If it is still not showing on the diagram then create an ancestral view for the focal person by cl...

Thanks Alid, Burning to CD is a great idea, i&#39d never think of using the post.

(Generating HTML webpage sets can often run up to around 30MB or more so emailing them in a zip is not really practical yet.)

Especially useful would be the number and type of column that you have on your CSV. Is it just First Names and Family Names or does it include birthdates, deathdates, marriages and notes columns along with famillial and next of kin relationships.

Hi Roger, The best way to send your cousin your data is as a PDF file. Although there is no way to send your whole database in one diagram you are able to send Ancestors and Descendants views as PDFs. (Click on the "A" and "D" buttons at the top of the iFamily window to create a view for the current...

Imports to iFamily are done using the Gedcom 5.5 format . iFamily uses this format exclusively to ensure your databases have integrity. Does anyone on this forum know of a good free conversion software for turning csv's into basic Gedcom's? For information on how to import Gedcoms into iFamily...

Here&#39s a page with links to genealogical dictionaries and abbreviations.

Perhaps it is a good one to bookmark. (Although I could not locate CCV on the site with google.)

Is there a way to show a legal name change? This is not an adoption, just a name change which effects offsprings names. Thanks for your question Phil. There's not a dedicated functionality built into iFamily for recording the phases of a persons life when they have a particular name. You can record...

Recovery after crash

After a disc crash, I purchased a new computer and restored files from backup. iFamily (v 2.423) now gives a warning message that the program is not in the home directory. (It is, but my home directory on the new computer has a different name). The program does load, though, and seems to work perfe...
