Hi Clive, Assuming you were using the CSV file from the Index menu item then the export does have the marriage details. Column Q contains a list of all spouses and the following columns are headed Spouse1, Spouse2, Spouse3 &Spouse4. These contain the ID; name (b. - d.); Date of marriage; year of mar...

Hi Clare, If you mean to get rid of the whole tree and start again, the answer is Yes. In Finder, go to your home folder and in the iFamilyData folder there will be a file ending in .FtkSql The first part of that file name will be the one you used for your family tree. Just delete that file (move to...

Hi Geraldo, Those errors look like they are from the Royals92 data file. When you open iFamily and get the royal family tree does the title bar on iFamily say Royal92.FtkSql? Or something else. If it is something else, I guess the database has become corrupt. Try a finder search for any file with th...

Alphabetising in reports
Hi again. I have quoted my previous reply at the end of this message but it really does depend on what you are trying to generate the report for and of. The Filtered People report does only generate the list based on First Name so you are not doing anything wrong (as far as I can tell). It would req...

Alphabetising in reports
Hi, Which reports are you trying to generate as there are quite a few? If you want a complete list of the database, the easiest way is to use the People... Index menu option and then generate the CSV file. When you import this into Numbers or Excel you can then sort based on the column for Surname e...

Searching for Marriage Place
Hi,
Not sure about the picture part of your question.
Also, not sure how you are searching for places.
I use Events... Event Places... menu item and put the place I am searching for. This will return Birth, Death and Marriage places that match.
Are you doing something else?

Alternate Dates
Hi,
The way I would do this is to put your 'best guess' in the normal date field and use the Comment field for the extra information.
You can then run a report on which people have entries in the comment field to help with progressing the 'uncertainties'.
Hope that helps,
Nigel

Trouble exporting from FTM to iFamily
Hi Liz, First thing to check is that you are exporting the data from FTM into a .ged file. Assuming it is called Family.ged look in Windows Explorer or in Finder (on the Mac) to see what the size of the file is. This is generally a fairly small file of 10s or 100s of kilobytes. If it is not zero, ha...

Hi, I think you can also use the GEDCOM export ... Focal Person and All relatives menu option but you have to break the link between the person and spouse at the starting point. Adding Sources
Hi Jay,
If you look about halfway down the screen there are plus and minus buttons.
If you click on the Plus you can then enter the Source details in the set of boxes to fill in as required.
Not clicking on the Plus does indeed overwrite a current source reference.
Hope this helps.

.csv imports
My search with google only identified gedcom to csv converters. The real problem is to define the standard that the csv file holds the data and to try to map that into the relationships. Hence the GEDCOM standard. If the csv file was a list of names then I would imagine that it would be possible to ...
