What's New in V2.001

What was previously announced as Version 1.225 has been changed to Version 2.001

Export to Gedcom

Enhanced generation of Multimedia OBJE records (images) for better compatibility with other Family Tree applications.

Added a new option to create a Gedcom file for Focal Person + All Ancestors

Import from Gedcom

Enhanced import of Reunion Gedcom files to handle Tags that are specific to Reunion but which are not designated as custom tags.

Improved memory management when importing large numbers of large images.

Events Pane of Main Window

The Event Notes may now be displayed as multi-line fields in the table of Events. Multi-line notes can now be more easily viewed and edited without having to invoke the Events Dialog. You may toggle it to display either single-line or multi-line notes.

The Add Event button previously invoked the Events Dialog. The Add Event button now has a pop-up menu to allow you to select the Event Type and it immediately adds a new event to the table in the Events Pane. Combined with the multi-line display of Notes this means that Events may now be biewd, added and edited much faster. You still need to use the Edit button to access the Event's Source References.

The field for Event Name is now auto-filled as you type based on the Event Names already in the database. For instance, if your database already has occupations for "Car Salesman" and "Carpet Layer" and you enter "Car" then it will be auto-filled with "Car Salesman, add the "p" and the field will auto-fill with "Carpet Layer".

The column for Source Reference numbers now has a pup-up tooltip - if you hover the mouse pointer over a Source Reference in the RH column of the Events Pane then a small pop-up will display the contents of the Source References. A left click on this column will display the Source References Dialog to allow you to edit the data.

Events Dialog

Added an event subtype filter to the event name drop-down box. For instance, when event subtype OCCU is selected then only the Occupation event names are shown in the event-name drop-down box. The dialog now opens instantly regardless of the size of the database.

Corrected the initial sizing of the Events dialog sheet to eliminate the size-creep.

Event Names Dialog

Added a filter for Event Type. For instance, when Occupation is selected as the Event Type then only the names of Occupations are shown in the Event Names table. This dialog is now much faster for large databases.

Family Pane of Main Window

The Birth and Death Notes may now be displayed as multi-line fields in the table of children, as per the Events Pane.

Sources Dialog

Added a source where-used table

Corrected the initial sizing of the Sources dialog sheet to eliminate the size-creep.

Dynasties - Report and Gedcom Export

For want of a better name I have defined a Dynasty to be a complete set of inter-connected people.

For instance, the Focal Person in the diagram has ancestors and descendants and they all may have spouses and various kinds of children and they all may have ancestors and descendants and spouses, and they all may have ...... That complete set is what I have called a Dynasty.

You may have more than one Dynasty in an iFamily for Tiger database, the members of one Dynasty having no relationships to members of another Dynasty. In the simplest case a Dynasty may consist of a single unconnected person who has no parents, no children and no spouses.

There are now two new menu options related to Dynastic Sets. Both display the separate dynasties in tables for on line viewing.

The first new menu option Reports - Dynasties Report generates a printed report of all the Dynastic Sets of people.

The second new menu option is File - Gedcom Export - Focal Person plus All Related People - which exports the Dynastic Set related to the Focal Person to a Gedcom file.

If someone can think of a better name than Dynasty then please let me know.

Search Marriage Notes

Added an option to the toolbar search field to search Marriage Notes.

Disconnecting a Person

Added a new dialog to allow you to quickly disconnect a person from his/her parents, children and spouses.
