Gedcom and the ADOP Tag

I have been experimenting with Gedcom output from iFamily. I have used trees which have adoption connections and stepparent connections. On output, the adoption connection is not created. I have edited the .GED file, putting in the necessary ADOP tags and used that updated file as input to iFamily. iFamily does process the ADOP correctly on input. So I conclude that input is correctly processed but output not so.

As to stepparent connections. It appears the GEDCOM spec has no place to identify step parenting. So I wouldn't expect those to be handled on Gedcom output.

For me to use Gedcom output elsewhere, I will have to edit the output, putting in the proper ADOP tags.

Warwick, is this something you can address in the future?
