I have release V2.526 for Lion compatibility, it is available from the in program update feature.
I have several gedcom files that I want to import into my main database but it appears that I can only import them as a new database. I don't want to use the merge function as each of the files contains around one thousand individuals and this would take too long. In any case I don't need to compare people as I know they are all new records.

You will still need to import each Gedcom into a new database each time, iFamily cannot merge a text file, it requires the Apple database objects to function.
You can merge branches without the need to compare all people.
1. Have your Target database open as the same time as your new import.
2. select the person in the new database that you wish to import to the Target.
3. Switch to the target and right clik on a person or a ghost box where you wish to merge.
4. Select All ancestors and All Spouses to be included with the migration into the target database.
The following thread has a link to a video by Ben Sayer which is quite a good walkthrough.
