Separating husband from fatherhood

Hi William

Let's say that Fred had 2 wives and he had 4 children by his first wife (Alice), 2 by his second wife (Mary).

Make Fred the Focal Person of the diagram. You can now see his 2 wives and his 6 children in the diagram.

To Change a Parent-Child Relationship - Option 1
  • You can change a parent-child relationship by left clicking on the mid point of the parent-child relationship line.
To Change a Parent-Child Relationship = Option 2
  • You can Left click on Fred and then, whilst holding down the left mouse key, drag a line over each his children. As you keep dragging the mouse pointer over each child you will notice that the relationship type is indicated as N (Natural) or S (Step), A (Adopted), F (Foster).

if you let go of the mouse button you can then change the Parent-Child Relationship.
To Add a Parent-Child Relationship - Option 1
  • Try the click and drag again but this time start by Left clicking on on one of Fred's children. Drag the mouse over each of Fred's wives. Once again you will see the relationship - but this time it is the relationship between the child and each of Fred's wives. If you see an X then the relationship is unknown so let go the mouse pointer and assign as suitable relationship.
To Add a Parent-Child Relationship - Option 2
  • Double click on Fred's second wife (Mary) so that she is the Focal Person in the diagram. Does Mary have the correct number of husbands and children? Add her extra husbands first by entering their names in the ghost box for spouse.

If she has children that do not already exist in the database then enter them into the ghost box for child.

If Mary has children who do already exist in the database then you can Right Click on Mary in the diagram and select " Attach Existing Person as Child" from the pop-up menu.
If you have an Apple Mighty Mouse and Right Click does not work then click on this hyper-link, http://ifamilyforleopard.com/forums/YaB ... 1179117704

I hope the above helps.

Keith
