Can iFamily show the relationship between individuals?

Post by Jeffery » Tue Apr 19, 2011 5:15 am

Another genealogy program I am familiar with can show the relationship between selected individuals. So, if for example I am selected as the focal person, the program will label other people in the family tree so I can see that a particular person is a third cousin, twice removed! Does iFamily have this capability?

thanks,
Jeff

Hello Jeff

The simple answer is Yes!

Go to Preferences and click on the menu bar at the top - probably set as "Show full name in diagram" and select "Consanguinity with Root person" this will give you the relationship between you and all people in your tree.

If you want to calculate relationships between other people then go to "People" in the main menu bar and select "Relationships Calculator you can then calculate the relationship between the current focal person and any other person in your tree simply by selecting the surname and scrolling through to find the right forename

Good luck
