Using iFamily on Mountain Lion

Post by sandgroper » Mon Aug 06, 2012 11:15 am

When I open up ifamily I am getting multiple windows saying:
You appear to have moved the folder called iFamilyData - probably using Finder.
Please Quit from iFamily and use Finder to move it back to be a child of you Home folder.
In future please use the iFamily menu option File -> Move Data Directory.
You may also need to delete the iFamily Property List file at /Users/HomeFolder/Library/Preferences/com.kswa.iFamilyForLeopard.plist

The dialogue boxes are difficult to close. And keep popping up, so I can't use the program.
I have no idea what is meant by "move it back to be a child of your home folder". I have found the folder called iFamilyData, but I am really not sure where to put it.
Many thanks for any info

That error message appears when iFamily does not find the folder where expected. (Or somtimes when the preferences file has been deleted, that being where it stores the location).

Hopefully this image helps?

After selecting your home folder, iFamilyData should be the next level down. (a child of so to speak).

iFamily will not start

Post by seacount » Thu Aug 16, 2012 1:42 pm

My mac book died unexpectedly and I had to purchase a new on with V10.8. My backups were about a month old and when I tried to start iFamily I got the following message "iFamily for Leopard quit unexpectedly" Since I am unable to load I can not ask for an update. Please help. I've been using iFamily since 2008 and it is very important. Thankyousoverymuch. Elliott

I cannot open iFamily since I installed Mountain Lion.
