I have searched and cannot find this question. But what is the link in a picture for? I have tried to use it in notes to no avail. What is the box we must create in the picture - is that the link that should appear when hypertext is used?
I am totally at a blank here - LOVE the program - come from Legacy, Family TreeMaker and Reunion. This is the best, even without a manual!

Hi peppermintp,
The idea of this feature is to be able to mark up an area of the picture and associate a label with it.
For example, if you have a group photo then you can draw a box around on of the heads (just click and drag on the picture), then add some text in the text window, highlight the text and click on the Create link button.
This will give you a link which when clicked will bring up the box around the linked 'head'.
Repeat this for all the family members in the group.
I hope this is clear enough and answers your question.
Regards,
Nigel

Create Link
Thanks Nigel - I will try it. That sounds like a very "slick" feature, and one I have not seen in other genealogy software, except via a photo 3rd party application.
Re: Creat Link in "transcribe" window of Pictures
Let me please resurrect another pretty old thread.
I am playing with this functionality, and it looks sort of nice, but I bumped into a couple of questions:
I am playing with this functionality, and it looks sort of nice, but I bumped into a couple of questions:
- can the links be used anywhere, or do they work only when the Transcribe sheet is open? It would make a pretty good sense to add them e.g., to different source references along with page numbers, but if this is possible, I don't know how to
- should they work in the “Transcription” pane right from the pic, below “Picture Notes”? For me they do not, I see just the plain text in there
- what's worse, if the plain text is long, the pane does not scroll, and I can see only its beginning. Is that a known bug, or do I do something wrong?
