Surnames list; Index list

Post by hmkabaker » Sat Jan 16, 2016 5:40 pm

Is there a way to print or download a list of surnames from the tree? Or to download the index so I can sort and delete duplicate surnames?

I see the feature that allows you to change a surname for every person with that surname. Would like to be able to print or download that surname list.

Thanks.

I found the answer to the second question. At the bottom of the Index, Generate CSV File gives you column options. I selected Surname. The file contained everyone, so after I sorted the surnames, I was able to mark and delete the duplicates.

I still would like a unique surnames list, if possible.

Thanks.

I am pretty sure there is no way to do this in iFamily. However if you open the CSV file in Excel use the "remove duplicates" icon and select the column containing the surnames and then select/copy the remaining unique surnames into a new spreadsheet and you will have your list.
