merging persons in same database

If you are having difficulty using iFamily for Leopard.
eg: "How do I change someone's sex after they are married?

merging persons does not work in 2.9.6 (left hand person stays blank) so when I need it I switch back to 2.9.4
Doubt is what makes me tick
