Can't correct wrong relationship of my mother's father

Hello Friends. My mother's father shows as a step-father, which is incorrect. He is her biological father. I tried to correct it by trying to add him as her biological father by control clicking her name, but when the dialog box shows the results of available males, her biological father does not appear in the choices. Do I need to disconnect him first in some way so that he shows as available when I try to connect him as her biological father and not her step-father?

This is so humbling. I just followed my own advice and disconnected him. When I then option-clicked her name, he appeared and I was able to rightfully connect him as her biological father. Jeez, I tried to do this for about 8 years and just now solved it.
