I have an ancestor whose surname is Brunski.
But there are sources that show family members also used the spelling Brunsky.
How do I show the different spellings ...without adding confusion.

Re: Spellings of surname
Hi Rob,
There is a field labelled "AKA" (or Also Known As) on the Person Page (the one with the persons name on it next to 'Family'
This can be used to record alternatives such as 'Jack' when the persons name is 'John' and could be used to have alternative spellings.
It could be used to record variations in a persons surname spelling if they are known as both but I am not too sure where the field is reported or displayed other than in the Person tab.
If the family members changed their name from one generation to another then I would just use that in the main name - the tree does not mind if a son or daughter has a different surname from the Father.
You could also record both spellings as 'BRUNSKY|BRUNSKI' using the | symbol (shift \)
Hope some of that helps
Nigel
