I use iFamily 2.9.6 with High Sierra 10.13.6
I have previously created an ancestor list which included birthdate and place, marriage date and spouse, death date and place.
It has been too long and I have forgotten how I did it.
Now I can only produce a simple one-liner format.
If anyone could tell me how I accomplished the desired format, I would very much appreciate it.
Desired format looks like this:
Anna Maria PEDERSDATTER L-23
b. abt 1768
m. 15 Mar 1796 Rasmus KRISTENSEN L-22 at Vigerslev Kirke
d. 21 Nov 1847 at Rue Søgård, Vigerslev Sogn, Skovby Herred, Odense Amt aged 79
Anne Cathrine NIELSDATTER L-19
b. abt 1774
m. 05 Aug 1796 Jens HANSEN L-18 at Nørre Aaby Kirke, Nørre Aaby Sogn, Vends, Odense
d. 16 Aug 1856 at Bubel, Indslev Sogn, Vends, Odense aged 82
The simple one-liner which is all I can do now looks like this:
Ane Cathrine OLESEN T-5 (1834 - 1883)
Anna ANDERSDATTER T-91
Anna Kierstine HENNINGSDATTER T-73
Anna Margretha T-39 (1727 - 1777)

Hi Kirstin,
I think what you are trying to achieve comes form the People menu ... Index...
This can generate s CSV file containing the information you are after and allows you to select family names, user names plus other information.
Hope that is the one you are after, if not let me know.
Regards,
Nigel

Re: Ancestor list - how did I do it?
Hello Nigel,
Thanks for quick answer which I appreciate even though it doesn't quite give me what I am after.
However, it was good to be reminded of this CSV capacity under PEOPLE.
I am certain that what I am after wasn't created by a spreadsheet format like CSV.
I want a list (alphabetical by first name) of only direct ancestors to a certain person. (The same direct ancestors which would show up on an Ancestors diagram))
I can create that if I am only interested in one-liner of name and birth year plus death year.
I cannot figure out how I did it probably about a year ago when I got the desired format I showed you in my question post.
I vaguely remember having to manipulate it a little bit, like maybe insert return stroke to get birth info on separate line - something simple like that.
I appreciate your invitation to ask my question again, more clearly I hope.
Kirsten

Re: Ancestor list - how did I do it?
Hi Kirsten,
Not sure how you got your single line or the earlier one.
Using the 'Reports ... Selected Person Only' menu option I managed to generate the following:
Ancestors Report for George TOMLINSON Created on Tuesday 24-Sep-19 at 15:28
George TOMLINSON, M, b. abt 1786, d. 02 Mar 1855, m.(1) 24 Nov 1807 Ann CHANTRY , m.(2) 15 Jun 1846 Sarah OTTER
-1. William TOMLINSON, M, b. abt 1748, d. 19 Feb 1828, m. abt 27 Apr 1772 Sarah PAILTHORP
-2. William TOMLINSON, M, b. abt 1717+. Ann (WilliamTOMLINSON)
-3. Unknown TOMLINSON, M, b. bef 1707
-2. Ann (WilliamTOMLINSON), F, b. abt 1717+. William TOMLINSON
-1. Sarah PAILTHORP, F, b. abt 1748, d. abt 1799, m. abt 27 Apr 1772 William TOMLINSON
-2. William PAILTHORP, M, b. abt 1727
There were 7 people in the tree including George T.
Not sure if this is what you are after.

Nigel

Re: Ancestor list - how did I do it?
Hi Nigel,
I do not have time for it right now, but I am going to give this a try and play with it. Kind of looks promising.
I shall report back.
Thanks a bunch,
Kirsten

Re: Ancestor list - how did I do it?
Hi Nigel,
It turns out your second suggestion also wasn't what I was after. But it was nonetheless much appreciated.
But I happened now to hit upon how I created the list the first time around.
I shall describe.
- Select a focal person
- Click on button towards upper left corner A/PV (Project View)
- In the new window "Project View" click on button "Create Ancestral View for Focal Person"
This is how I got the one-line version, the one I still remembered how to create.
Continuation to get the extended list isn't intuitive because after the above steps you have to
- click on "Print" button lower left.
- that brings up a choice between whether to include birth, marriage & death or not. Choose to include and there you have my desired list.
(the only manipulation on my part then in that list is to get rid on the iFamily ID number which just confuses my list.)
Thanks, Nigel for your suggestions. Your participation encouraged me to stay with it to finally get it figured out.

Re: Ancestor list - how did I do it?
Hi Kirsten,
Thanks for the detailed notes on how to achieve that list. I hadn't tried that before so it is good to know.
Well done for working out what you did.
Kindest regards
Nigel

Re: Ancestor list - how did I do it?
Hi Nigel,
I am glad you think my description could be useful.
As for me, I have added the procedure explanation to my folder of iFamily "how-to's". I'm not getting stuck on this one a second time!
Thanks again,
Kirsten
