Well, no one had an answer to my a href=" http://ifamilyforleopard.com/forums/YaB ... 1221179567" question about when to use INDEX as a source type /a .
So here's another question.
When do you use " Personal Knowledge" as a source type?
When do you use " Interview" ?
When do you use Email or E-mail Message? (And how do you distinguish between " Email" and " E-Mail Message" ?
Thanks!

Hi Jillaine -
I'm new to iFamily. Altho I've used a variety of PC-based genealogy software in the past, it's only now that I'm starting to use Sources at all.
Personal Knowledge: I don't see this as a Source Type....
- I created a Source for an interview with myself, and use that for Personal Knowledge
- things that I grew up knowing to be true, or that I'm too lazy to find authentic sources. My birthdate, marriage, residence, graduation dates, siblings' birthdates..... I figure I can go back and look at everything I allocated to my personal knowledge and
Interview
- used for phone or face-to-face conversations, mostly with my aunt
Email vs Email Message
- I don't see those as 2 separate options in iFamily...
- I've been going back to past emails I've received, writing them to pdfs and using those as the sources

The default list only includes "E-mail message"
I suspect that you have imported a Gedcom file that had "Email" as a Source Type and that iFamily created an extra type to accommodate your data.
If you want to combine them all into one Source Type then:
Warning: The above technique is a special for the Sources Add/Edit dialog. If you make a mess then Close the dialog and press Cmd+Z immediately.

If you want to combine them all into one Source Type then:
- Open Sources Add/Edit dialog
- Click on the column header for Type
- Select all the ones you want to change
- Select the Source Type (or type in a new Source Type)
