If the Dock is located at the bottom and if you open the Picture Editor dialog, then the Dock " covers" the Close button and you cannot close the window.
Display is 1280 x 800.
I attached a screen capture.

Dock covering "Close" button
1. Cmd+W will close the dialog.jmb wrote:If the Dock is located at the bottom and if you opens the Picture Editor dialog, then the Dock " covers" the Close button and you cannot close the window.
2. When you start iFamily, before you activate the Picture Editor dialog, Right Click on the Toolbar of the main window and select " Icons Only" .
3. Move the Dock to the left or right side of the screen or set it it to AutoHide when not in use.
In V2.288 I have adjusted the default size of the Picture Editor dialog so that it fits on a 13" 1280 x 800 screen with the Dock at the bottom of the screen.
