Viewing Source References

Post by Keith Wilson » Thu Jan 10, 2008 2:38 am

I am wondering how can I see all my sources for an individual.

Is there a way to click on an individual and see a list of sources for that name, birth date, etc?

Hi Barbara

Viewing Source References

You can use the Sources pane, in the lower half of the main window, to view all the Source References (Citations):
  • from a Person to a Source, and
  • from a Person to a Source via any of his/her Events.
Conversely - you can use the Sources Add/Edit dialog to view all the References to (Citations of) a particular Source.

The internal logic is as follows:
  • A Person may be connected via a Source Reference (a Citation) to a Source
  • An Event may be connected via a Source Reference (a Citation) to a Source
  • A Source may be Referenced to (Cited by) any Event or any Person
To add a reference from a Person to a Source
  • 1. Use the main menu option Sources - Add/Edit and add the Source
  • 2. Select the person in the Context Diagram
  • 3. Click on the Sources tab in the lower half of the main window
  • 4. Press the [+] button and add a Source Reference
The Active Source

You can also set any Source to be the Active Source (there can only be one Active Source at any one time).

When a Source has been Activated:
  • iFamily will assume that a new Person or Event needs to be connected to the Active Source
  • You can right click on any Person or Event and make a reference to the Active Source.
