Is there a way to show a legal name change? This is not an adoption, just a name change which effects offsprings names.

You can record the name change as an "Other event" in the events pane, recording the previous name of the person in that record. Changing the name of the person to their new moniker in their personal details pane and adding their old name in the alias field (AKA) should be sufficient.
