How do I enter two names as my family name?

Question:

My family name is SMITH BROWN (separated by a space character) . How do I get iFamily to recognise it as one family name?

Answer:

1. Separate the words with an underscore or a hyphen SMITH_BROWN or SMITH-BROWN

2. Use a No-Break Space character using menu option Edit->Special Characters. On my keyboard Option+SpaceBar is the shortcut.

Option 2 should be recognised by other family tree programs after you export it to a Gedcom file but there is no guarantee.
