Invalid Dates
Invalid Dates
I'm using version 2.12.0 on a MacBook running MacOS Monterey.
Dates entered between September 10 and September 30 regardless of year result in a pop-up that says "FTRevent::setDate : invalid Date = 26 Sep 2021.

Re: Invalid Dates
Hi
I get a similar issue on an Apple Silicon MacBook Pro with Monterey 12.3 and iFamily 12.2 0 but get a requester listing the accepted formats.
It also failed on the 9 Sep 1880 so I didn’t check out the limits of the bug.

Re: Invalid Dates
I have the same issue with a brand new Mac mini M1 on 12.3 Monterey. I get an error on September dates.

Re: Invalid Dates
Just tested on Intel Mac Pro running Mojave without the issue
Could be a Monterey issue or an M1 problem
If I can get it back up and running I will check out on Intel Mac Pro running Monterey unless someone else can report back.
Nigel
Update: Tested on Intel Mac Pro running Monterey and it accepted the dates in September. I assume it is related to the Apple Silicon code rather than Monterey.

Re: Invalid Dates
Ive got the same issue - trying to put in date 29/9/1939 for 1939 register and it just keeps getting bounced.

Re: Invalid Dates
Hi Enid,
Are you using an Apple Silicon (M1 etc) Mac or an Intel machine?
And which operating system - Monterey or earlier?
Thanks

Re: Invalid Dates
Same problem for any newly-entered date in September. For now, I entered the just the year in the "born" or "died" box, with the full date in "notes." The few previously-entered dates I checked still look correct, but any changes are bounced.
I'm using a MacBook Pro (M1 Pro chip) with OS Monterey 12.3.1. I didn't see this problem with its predecessor, a 2015 Intel MacBook Pro with Monterey 12.1 or 12.2. So this may be an Apple chip glitch, or perhaps a combination of chip & OS.
fwiw,
Maria

Re: Invalid Dates
Hi Nigel
Ive got an iMac (Retina 4K Late 2015) and it automatically updated to Monterey V21.3.1 a couple of days ago.
Its frustrating but I'm working round it and hopefully the next update will solve the problem

Re: Invalid Dates
Hi Enid
Thanks for the update. Seems to disprove the Apple Silicon theory.
I will recheck my Mac Pro and hope that Warwick is able to identify the problem.

Re: Invalid Dates
Some brainiac at apple has changed the library for the English short month names, and Sep is now Sept from macOS 12.3 forwards. I’m sure they had their reasons, but this appears to be policy by committee, or by whim, which is never a good feature for a platform.
I will code a workaround into the next version, but for now you’ll have to remember to use “sept” when typing dates in.
Thanks,
Warwick.

Re: Invalid Dates
The workaround doesn't work. Still can't enter any September date whether using Sept Sept. or September

Re: Invalid Dates
Hi
Looks like we have to wait for the update as although the Sep date shows in the data entry box it doesn’t go into the database.
I’d suggest that until the update is available dates in September should be put in as’ aft 31 Aug yyyy’ where yyyy is the year and the correct date entered in the notes or comment section.
A search later will find the relevant entries for fixing.
Fingers crossed it isn’t too long.

Re: Invalid Dates
Its good know that the source of the problem has been identified.
Using "Sept" does not work for me; this still triggers the invalid date message.
Hopefully a patch will be available very soon as this little bug is quite annoying.
