As a new user of iFamily let me say I love it.

The thing I miss most is arrows on the toolbar to move back and forward from previously viewed screen and back again.

Also would it be possible to have Baptism and Burial dates and place added to the Family view as often you can obtain these and not the Birth or Death info.

Keep up the good work, this program is fantastic.

Baptism & Burial

Thanks for the feedback. We have been asked these questions before but ...

Back and Forward Arrows on the Toolbar
  • The Previous Focal Person on the Toolbar is a drop down list. Click on one of them.
  • If you have not made any changes to the data you can use Undo to reselect the previous Selected Person (red)
  • You can use the arrow keys (up, down, left right) on the keyboard to navigate around the Context Diagram.
  • There are many ways of promoting someone to be the Focal Person of the Context Diagram. For instance, Right Click on a child in the Family pane.
If you have not done so then you can set an Ancestral View (for yourself?) and this helps with navigation.

Additional Fields in the Family Pane

The Family pane is already quite complex, especially on a small screen. Others may prefer to see Christening, Baptism, Bar Mitzvah, Baz Mitzvah, LDS Sealing, .... or any other religious event so it would have to be a user defined option which would make the Family pane even more complex. So we applied the KISS principle.

In the Family pane there are already some very quick ways to Add/Modify/Delete the Events in a person's life:
  • Click on the up arrow in the first column for each child to activate the Personal Details dialog for the child in that row. Then click on the [+] button to add a Personal Event.
  • Click on the up arrow to the left of the husband (or wife) to activate the Personal Details dialog the husband (or wife). Then click on the [+] button to add a Personal Event.
  • Click on the up arrow top-centre of the Family pane to activate the Family dialog. Then click on the [+] button to add a Marriage Event.
    • Divorce
    • Engagement
    • LDS Sealing
    • Annulment
    • Banns
    • Contract
    • Licence
    • Settlement
    • Other
Or you can click on the Events tab to activate the Events pane for the currently selected person. Then click on the [+] button to add an Event.
