Keith, when you click on a ghost box to add a child, it automatically assumes the child's surname which is great. However I find it more convenient to enter children through a parent's " family" tab, as I can tab across and fill in birth/death dates as I go. When doing this, I have to enter the surname in every time. I'm sure this is just a quick fix, which would help out a lot for someone adding new branches to their tree. ~Luke

I've even thought of writing a manual - but it's just a thought ...

My family surname is St. John. When I populated iFamily for Tiger from a GEDCOM file, it assumes John as the surname. I have used the " Auto amend famly name" button for myself, but there is probably a method to change all the St. John people in my database from John to St. John at once.
Thanks,
Carlene

Hi Carlene
In V2.278 " St" will be a valid family name prefix. The list now includes any of the following
ab, abu, ap, ben, bin, da, de, del, den, der, des, di, du, fitz, ibn, la, le, of, st, ter, von, van
Any combinations like " de la" , " van der" and " abu bin" are also treated as part of the family name prefix.
In the meantime I suggest that you use Preferences to set " Show Full Name in Diagram" .
