Navigating the Ancestors and Descendants Diagrams
Note 1. The descriptions of how the Left, Right, Up and Down Arrow keys are for the Ancestors Diagrams in Horizontal Mode. The actions of the Left, Right, Up and Down Arow Keys will depend on whether you are viewing an Ancestors or a Descendants diagram and also whether it is in Horizontal, Top-Down or Bottom-Up mode.
Note 2. For the Ancestors and Descendants Diagrams a new term, the "Root Person", is introduced.
Using the Arrow Keys
Left Arrow - Changes the Selected Person to be the child shown in the column to the left. .
Right Arrow - Changes the Selected Person to be the first parent shown in the column to the right. If that person is in the rightmost column of the diagram then iFamily will ask you if you want to show an additional column.
Up Arrow - Selects the person above.
Down Arrow - Selects the person below
Shift + Left Arrow - Contracts a branch of the tree.
Shift + Right Arrow - Expands a contracted branch of the tree
Using the Mouse Buttons
Left Click on a Person - Selects the Person and updates the Personal Details dialog if it is visible.
Double Click on a Person - Displays a floating window that contains the details of the current Selected Person. The details may be edited, Notes may be added.
Right Click on a Person - Displays a context sensitive pop-up menu. The menu includes Contraxt, Expand, Contract to Bloodline, and promotions of various near relatives to be the Root Person of the diagram.
Control + Left Click - Emulates a Right Click.
Command + Click - Displays the Personal Details dialog for the Selected Person.
