Just viewing the request for iPhone enhancements and am wondering if there are any plans to have a version of iFamily available for iPad when it is released?

There are currently no plans for an iPad version. This may change depending on what capabilities become apparent at launch, but no work will be done pre-launch.

IiFamily for iPad

Post by jmje » Fri Apr 30, 2010 11:10 pm

I read yesterday that Ancestry are about to release a Mac version of Family Tree Maker. I converted to iFamily after using FTM for 30 years.

NOW is the time to release an iPad version and also start marketing iFamily.

I know this may be difficult for you at this time Warwick BUT there are many iFamily users who would be happy to help out, eg at the Genealogy Conference in Yarrawonga at the end of May.

jFamily on an iPad would be tremendously popular (if FTM doesn&#39t get there first!)

Apple have released Pages, Numbers and Keynote for iPad so other Mac programs are sure to follow.

Hope we don&#39t miss the boat on this one! Great opportunity.

iPad

they are really not programs for the iPad but apps

I have the Reunion app for my iPhone $17.99 it requires a full version of Reunion and also Ancestry free app Tree to Go requires a tree on Ancestry on my iPhone both are JUST ok as small on iPhone but agree on iPad would be brilliant
I have just purchased an iPad
Sofar for iPad there is Mobile family tree which requires a full version of Mac FamilyTree which is far too cumbersome a program
I have tried but don&#39t like FTM program on windows via VMware Fusion
My programe of choice is iFamily over all of them I don&#39t think it will matter who gets there first when Warwick get&#39s the time to develop for iPad ect it will take off big time via any of us who already use and have iPad ect as well
But maybe those are few ?? perhaps if anyone who uses iPad can add this to their signature he will get an idea just how many at present use ??

You can add me to the list of iFamily users with an iPad and an iPhone.

Would help to make iFamily portable - at the moment I have to export to GED file format, import into Reunion and then sync to the iPhone (and iPad).

Any changes cannot really be imported back so I have to mark them up so I can remember - or use the old fashioned method of a notebook and pen.

So another vote for portable.

Still in the works, yes.

The desktop upgrade takes priority over iPad development. Once that is done i will reassess the portable potential. (I would like to do it now, but...).
